Privacy policy

How we look after the information you share with us.

Last updated: 30 September 2026

Summit Solar is a family business based in the Wairarapa. We respect your privacy and handle your personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

When you fill in our quote form, call or email us, we may collect:

  • your name, phone number and email address
  • your property address, town and postcode
  • details about your property and power use, like your property type, what you’re interested in, your yearly power use or monthly bill, and anything else you choose to tell us

You don’t have to give us this information, but without it we may not be able to prepare a quote for you.

Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote
  • design, install and support your solar, battery or EV charging system
  • keep records of work we’ve done, as required for electrical work and warranties

We won’t sell your information, and we won’t add you to a marketing list without asking you first.

Who we share it with

We only share your information when we need to, to do the job:

  • Web3Forms delivers our website quote form to our email inbox. It is based overseas, so your form details pass through its servers on the way to us.
  • Google powers the address suggestions on our quote form. What you type in the address box is sent to Google to find matching addresses.
  • Your electricity lines company and retailer, when we apply to connect your system to the grid.
  • Our suppliers and equipment manufacturers, when we need to order equipment for your job or register a warranty.
  • Anyone else the law requires, such as for electrical safety certificates.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. We keep it only as long as we need it for the reasons above, or as long as the law requires.

Cookies and tracking

Our website doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies. Like most websites, it loads fonts from Google, and the quote form’s address lookup uses Google Maps. These services may record technical details such as your IP address. You can read how Google handles this in Google’s privacy policy.

Seeing or correcting your information

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it. To do this, or if you have any questions or concerns about your privacy, contact us:

If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled a privacy concern, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
